Are You Paying for Flood Insurance You Don’t Actually Need?

If you own property in South Florida, there’s a good chance you’re paying flood insurance premiums every year. What most property owners don’t know is that many of them don’t have to. Flood maps aren’t always accurate — and properties sitting above the Base Flood Elevation often end up incorrectly designated and billed.

A Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA) is a federal process that allows property owners to formally challenge their flood zone designation. If your property qualifies, it gets removed from the flood zone — and your lender can no longer require flood insurance. The process typically takes 30 to 60 days, and you pay nothing unless we succeed.
